Shortly after we bought the farm, Jan 2020, Sophie found us. She belonged to a houseless couple, who could no longer take care of her. They dropped her at friend’s place on Sauvie Island. She was around 2 1/2 years old back then. She’d wander over in the evening and spend the night in the tractor barn, then get up and keep moving during the day. After a few weeks of this, we asked our neighbor if he wanted us to take her, since we had room and could take care of her. Back then she was a lot larger than she is today. So large her belly would rub on the ground. We later learned her diet consisted of a lot of bread, sugar cereals and Skittles. The first time we fixed a bowl of vegetables, she refused to eat them. Now, she loves her veggies, and she still loves her long walks. When you come to the farm, please say hi. Remember, don’t feed her, not even veggies. Like all our animals she’s fed by farm staff, and gets exactly the right amount to keep her healthy.
Sophie has a crush on Trooper, the donkey. Here she is, bringing her food over to Trooper, so she can eat near her.
