About Us

Topaz Farm is a working 130-acre farm and community gathering place on Sauvie Island, just outside Portland.

Founded in 2020, we grow food using regenerative practices, host seasonal events, and invite the community to connect with the land — whether it’s through harvest festivals, u-pick fields, workshops, live music events, or a long-table dinner under a 500-year-old oak tree.

Topaz Farm is owned and operated by married couple Kat Topaz and Jim Abeles. Three generations of their family work together on the land, making the farm both a personal legacy and a shared space for everyone.

Kat brings a unique vision to the farm’s design, environmental values, and hospitality — rooted in her background in branding and design. She also serves as an elected representative for the West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District and sits on the board of the Bird Alliance of Oregon.

Jim leads farm operations, strategy, and customer experiences, bringing a background in marketing and entrepreneurship. He’s actively involved in shaping the future of agritourism in Oregon as Board President of the Sauvie Island Community Association and Board Secretary of the NW Agritourism Association.

Topaz Farm is a family farm — for all families.
We’ve created a place where people can slow down, gather, celebrate, and reconnect — with nature, with food, and with each other.
